Job Overview

Serves as a lead worker over Service Worker I/II, part-time employees and volunteers. Performs event set up and tear down, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and landscaping tasks.

Essential Functions

• Serves as a lead worker over Service Worker I/II, part-time employees and volunteers.
• Event set up and tear down of daily and weekly events.
• Performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled painting, carpentry, plastering, masonry, plumbing, metal work, electrical, mechanical maintenance and related work.
• Repairs faucets, unstops clogged lines and performs other plumbing work.
• Installs and replaces light fixtures, outlets, bulbs, fuses and performs other electrical work.
• Maintains and repairs locks, appliances, boilers, pneumatic controls, heating and refrigeration systems and related mechanical devices; monitors gauges and adjusts controls on equipment.
• Paints and redecorates walls, woodwork, furniture and fixtures.
• Welds, brazes, solders, and cuts material using oxy-acetylene and electric welding equipment to repair existing structures or in the construction of new facilities.
• Operates equipment and tools used in maintenance and repair work.
• Operates tractors, backhoes, skid steers, as well as other equipment.
• Operates equipment used for landscaping: riding lawn mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers and edgers.
• Operates snow removal vehicles: (trucks with plows) ATVs with plows and snow blowers.
• Clean and maintains bathrooms, cleans up trash before, during and after events.
• Stages events, takes events down, tractor driving- arena prep, as well as during events.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Serves as a lead worker over Service Worker I/II, part-time employees and volunteers.

Education/Experience

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience involving manual skills related to Building Construction, Alteration, Maintenance and Repair Work.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (ksa)

• Working knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools and materials used in a variety of building maintenance functions.
• Skilled in the use of motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, snow removal equipment, pumps, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio and phone.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the general public.

Special Qualifications

• Valid Utah Driver's License.
• Good driving record.
• On-call 24 hours a day.
• Telephone.
• Adaptable to changing work hours.
• Required to be on holiday and weekend checks.
• To pass State exam to obtain licensure, if required.

Physical Demands

• Regularly uses hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently stands and talks or hears.
• Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.
• Must be adaptable to changing work hours as shift hours may be varied.
• Work days include weekends and holidays; working hours could include early mornings and late nights.
• Service workers are required to be on holiday and weekend checks.
• Must pass State exam to obtain licensure, if required.

Work Environment

• Near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
