About the Role
Performs a variety of cleaning techniques including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, and the use of heavy equipment in Arnot Health facilities.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and services hospital areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, shampooing carpets, and damp dusting furniture.
- Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies in and around the hospital in an orderly and sanitary manner.
- Transports and sets up furniture for meetings; operates small extractors, floor machines, and small burnishers.
- Loads linen and microfiber carts and bins to predetermined par levels and completes deliveries at scheduled times.
- Completes all functions associated with linen processes, including collecting soiled linen and microfiber products from designated areas and delivering them to the soiled holding area.
- Washes walls, ceiling tiles, vents, windows (inside and out), window screens, light fixtures, and performs other high dusting tasks requiring a ladder.
- Handles garbage and medical waste, following proper procedures for packing needle containers.
- Completes regular housecleans in assigned areas using proper procedures and replenishes supplies as needed.
- Performs isolation cleaning using proper procedures.
- Changes drapes and cubicle curtains as required and moves beds as needed.
- Cleans the Morgue after an autopsy has been performed (General Houseclean).
- Observes safety rules and reports safety and health hazards to supervisor.
- Operates all equipment correctly and safely, cleaning equipment after each use.
- Maintains neat and clean work and storage areas.
- Attends all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.
- Interacts with customers/patients in a friendly and caring way, addressing their needs both psychologically and physically, and maintaining communication to provide a secure and pleasant experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read and understand both verbal and written instructions.
- No previous experience necessary.
- No CPR certification required.
Physical Demands
- Required to be on feet much of the time.
- Involves reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting.
Exposure Category
Category II. Tasks typically involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks.
