About the role

This is an entry-level position focused on assisting with laboratory tasks. You will prepare and tear down test setups, handle materials, maintain a clean work environment, perform basic tests, and accurately document procedures. The role provides opportunities to learn higher-level skills under supervision to advance your career.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and tear down test setups and fixtures.
  • Handle materials and maintain a clean and organized lab environment.
  • Assist higher-level technicians while learning laboratory skills.
  • Perform basic and moderately complex tests requiring judgment and decision-making.
  • Conduct testing in accordance with published standards and company protocols.
  • Document test setups, procedures, and results accurately, including sketches and data entry.
  • Ensure consistent quality and repeatability in test assemblies.
  • Follow ICC-ES quality, safety, and technical procedures; notify supervisors of any issues.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols, PPE requirements, and ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
  • Assist with sample tracking, labeling, and storage.
  • Perform other duties and special assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in building construction or a related industry preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of building construction, materials, tools, and equipment preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions, drawings, and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools, equipment, and packaging materials.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse machinery (if certified).
  • Tolerance for working in varying temperatures, including cold storage or outdoor areas.
  • Must be able to climb ladders or stairs as needed.
  • Visual and auditory acuity to identify safety hazards and follow instructions.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.

Environmental Conditions

  • Primarily indoor lab environment with artificial lighting and climate control.
  • May require work in standard office environments or varying temperature conditions.

Pay

$18.00 per hour.
