Job Responsibilities
The Building Mechanic II is responsible for performing assignments at the professional level, in accordance with State of Michigan, and City of Livonia building codes. Examples include:
- Work as a crew leader, supervising and directing employees as assigned
- Complete repairs or renovations of City facilities
- Oversee all aspects of facility and equipment maintenance and repair
- Maintain, schedule, and supervise facility maintenance and custodial needs
- Perform preventative and general maintenance of systems including filter replacements, pumps, etc.
- Perform routine facility inspections, and custodial duties as required
- Assist in the coordination or the set up and take down of equipment and furnishings for classes, programs, facility rentals and special events
- Monitor automated systems
- Perform electrical and plumbing repairs
Minimum Qualifications
- Be a citizen of the United States or resident alien with the right to work in the United States
- Have a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate
- Possess, maintain, or be eligible to obtain a State of Michigan Electrical, Plumbing, or HVAC Journeyman, or Master License
- Have three (3) years full-time paid experience in the electrical trade
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record
- Possess or be eligible for a Commercial Driver’s License-Group A
- Possess or be eligible for a valid Industrial Truck Driving Permit for the operation of a forklift
