Building Maintenance Technician II - Second Shift

About the Role

The Building Maintenance Technician II will support equipment at a class 2 medical device manufacturing facility producing liquids and dry powder media in cleanroom environments. This role involves hands-on troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and HVAC/utilities systems, as well as maintaining compliance with cGMP and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and HVAC/utilities systems on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Perform, document, and improve preventive maintenance using CMMS.
• Execute calibrations and adjustments on critical instruments per approved procedures and schedules.
• Support equipment changeovers and line setups to meet production schedules.
• Interpret and update technical documentation.
• Maintain strong cGMP documentation practices.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies: LOTO, confined space, arc flash, hot work, chemical handling; drive a proactive safety culture.
• Oversee critical utilities operation and maintenance.
• Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior technicians; contribute to skills matrices and on-the-job training plans.
• Participate in off-shift/after-hours support, rotating on-call coverage, and shutdown/turnaround planning and execution.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade/technical school diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience as a cGMP maintenance technician in a pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or medical device manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years demonstrated experience in at least two of the following: mechanical systems, industrial electrical (up to 480V), PLCs/HMIs, instrumentation/calibration, pneumatics/hydraulics, utilities/HVAC.
• Preventative maintenance experience.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and electrical schematics.
• Basic proficiency with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley/Siemens) preferred.
• Proficiency with CMMS (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) and maintenance best practices preferred.
• Experience supporting equipment commissioning/qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and completing compliant GMP documentation.
• Solid computer skills: CMMS, Microsoft Office/365.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and mentoring abilities; comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.

Environmental Conditions

• Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
• Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards.
• Exposure to cold rooms/freezers (-22°F/-6°C), fluctuating temperatures (hot/cold), and loud noises (equipment/machinery).
• Required use of PPE (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.).
• Standing for full shift.
• Exposure to strong odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products).
• Various outside weather conditions.
• Work in warehouse environments and at heights.
• Handling hazardous/toxic materials.
• Ability to aseptically gown.
• Safety-first mindset.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $18.65–$27.97 (New York). Eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance.

Schedule

Flexible 10-hour shifts, including nights. Additional shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts.
