Building Maintenance Representative

About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Credit Union in achieving its mission of becoming the members’ financial partner and helping to fulfill their life-long dreams by providing outstanding service to internal members and maintenance services to Credit Union facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance needs of all assigned Credit Union facilities, including interior and exterior building maintenance within scheduled hours.
  • Follow A+ FCU’s Personal and Property Security Program when entering or leaving facilities.
  • Continually observe facilities to identify and report major repair needs (e.g., roof leaks, door/window problems, carpet, lawn, parking lot, HVAC).
  • Perform carpentry repairs such as door adjustments, ceiling tile repairs, painting, and furniture/fixture repairs.
  • Perform electrical repairs including changing ballasts, bulbs, and testing outside lights monthly for security.
  • Perform routine plumbing repairs (e.g., unstopping toilets/sinks/urinals, fixing leaks, repairing water fountains).
  • Purchase supplies, equipment, and materials necessary for projects.
  • Assemble/move furniture, hang pictures/bulletin boards, create nameplates, and set up tables/chairs.
  • Repair/replace door knobs/locks, fix door closures, patch walls, and paint interior/exterior surfaces.
  • Report/order repairs for leaking irrigation systems.
  • Assist with carpet cleaning and stripping/waxing tile floors.
  • Perform monthly elevator testing and visit offsite ATMs for upkeep/repairs.
  • Assist Maintenance Representatives with janitorial services as needed.
  • Schedule/perform vehicle maintenance/service.
  • Assemble, disassemble, or move system furniture.
  • Clean exterior windows, light fixtures, and signs.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of general janitorial and/or maintenance experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability.
  • Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair, including machinery, tools, and safety precautions.
  • Ability to communicate repair needs to vendors/employees and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Skills in using hand/power tools and following safety practices.

  • Good organizational and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of building maintenance procedures/techniques and occupational hazards.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and members.
  • Desirable traits: problem-solving, positive attitude, attention to detail, flexibility, dependability, organization, and decision-making.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands/arms, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb/balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds.
  • Requires close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception vision with ability to adjust focus.

Decision-Making

  • Independent decisions: Recommend repair changes, work schedule adjustments, vendor selection, storage inventory needs, ordering supplies, and identifying repair needs.
  • Supervisory approval required: Final vendor selections, major repair costs, and situations outside A+ FCU policies/procedures.

Pay

$21.00 minimum hourly.
