About the role

Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Campus is seeking a Temporary Building Maintenance Repairer to join our team. This is a 6-month temporary assignment with the possibility of extension. The position involves assisting trades workers, contractors, and Building Maintenance Repairer III in various maintenance and repair tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair buildings, facilities, and equipment.
  • Assess materials and tools required for efficient work.
  • Clean or instruct others to clean work areas, machines, and equipment following work completion.
  • Perform unskilled work to maintain and repair buildings, building systems, equipment, and interior finishes, or minor skilled maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Occasionally perform skilled work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with basic computer knowledge.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in building maintenance, general construction, or other related field.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Able to be certified to operate forklift, scissor lift, and/or skid loader.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to continuously learn new skills and knowledge.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to accommodate after-hours school-related functions and activities.
  • Demonstrated values of inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Trade school or related certification preferred.
  • CDL License preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • May require physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Often requires walking/standing, bending/crouching/reaching, and at times sitting.
  • Manual dexterity and strength to work with hand tools.
  • Ability to be certified for PAPR respirator, if used in the conduct of required work.
