Building Inspector

About the role

A minimum of a High School Diploma is required. A NYS Certified Code Enforcement Official certification and field experience as both a Certified Code Enforcement Official and Building Inspector are also required. Experience in the construction or building trades is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and structures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
• Identify and report violations of building codes and other regulations.
• Assist in the enforcement of building codes and regulations.
• Provide technical assistance to property owners and contractors regarding building codes and regulations.

Requirements

• NYS Certified Code Enforcement Official certification.
• Field experience as a Certified Code Enforcement Official and Building Inspector.
• Experience in the construction or building trades.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.

Skills

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
