Building Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position will be responsible for reviewing building plans, conducting inspections, and enforcing local building codes.

Responsibilities

• Review construction plans and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations
• Conduct routine and special inspections on construction sites to ensure adherence to safety standards and building codes
• Issue permits and maintain accurate records of all issued permits
• Provide technical guidance and support to contractors and developers
• Respond to complaints and investigate violations of building codes
• Participate in public meetings and provide input on zoning and planning issues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in building inspection or related field
• Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Experience with computer software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Pay

$50,000 - $60,000 annually
