About the role
SAFEbuilt is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position will be responsible for reviewing building plans, conducting inspections, and enforcing local building codes.
Responsibilities
- Review construction plans and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations
- Conduct routine and special inspections on construction sites to ensure adherence to safety standards and building codes
- Issue permits and maintain accurate records of all issued permits
- Provide technical guidance and support to contractors and developers
- Respond to complaints and investigate violations of building codes
- Participate in public meetings and provide input on zoning and planning issues
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in building inspection or related field
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Qualifications
- Experience with computer software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
Skills
- Proficient in building code enforcement and inspection procedures
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Pay
$50,000 - $60,000 annually
