Building Inspector

Essential Functions

• Performs inspections at various stages of construction for compliance with building construction codes and policies.
• Examples include: inspecting footing, slab, wall, beams/columns, roofs, concrete, framework and the installation of components and cladding.
• Electrical: inspects conduit size, breaker size, wire size, circuit layout, fixtures and equipment.
• Plumbing: inspects soil lines, pipe size, location of fixtures, water supply lines, vents and shutoffs.
• Mechanical: inspects duct sizes, penetration protection, equipment schedules, ventilation system, gas installation and material specifications.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate’s Degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college in construction management, engineering or related field and four (4) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State of Texas Driver’s License.
• Requires Texas State Board of Plumbing Inspector’s License.
