Building Inspector

About the role

This position ensures buildings comply with codes and ordinances, performs building inspections to uphold public health and safety, and maintains residential and commercial electrical, plumbing, and mechanical licenses and certifications. The role involves handling unexpected challenges, providing excellent customer service, and working collaboratively within a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Perform building inspections to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Maintain public health and safety through regular inspections.
• Uphold residential and commercial electrical, plumbing, and mechanical standards.
• Address new and unexpected challenges in the city.
• Provide assistance, support, and excellent customer service to residents and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalency.
• Three (3) years of building inspector experience.
• Preferred: Certification as an International Code Council Inspector within one (1) year of employment.
• Must obtain State Plumbing Inspector License by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners within two (2) years of employment.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Pay

$21.18 per hour.
