About the role
Under the direction of the Codes and Standards Administrator I (CSA I), and guidance and assistance from a lead District Representative II (DR II), the incumbent is responsible for scheduling and conducting inspections relating to the enforcement of the California Health and Safety Codes and state and federal regulations within an assigned geographical area and writing reports related to inspections.
Candidates who reside more than 50 miles outside of the assigned geographical area may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency within 50-miles of the assigned geographic area prior to appointment (and continue to maintain residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and conduct inspections to enforce California Health and Safety Codes and state and federal regulations within an assigned geographical area.
- Write reports related to inspections.
Requirements
- Valid California Driver’s License (CDL). Provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain any required travel documents for inspection duties.
- Ability to climb roofs, crawl on hands and knees under homes, climb ladders, bend, stoop, and walk and drive for extended periods of time.
- Verified home address within 50 miles of the assigned area.
Pay
$6,308.00 - $7,825.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
Effective July 1, 2025, a 2% salary reduction is in place under the Personal Leave Program (PLP), with 3.5 hours of Personal Leave Credit earned monthly in exchange. This program is subject to change based on union agreements and state budget policy.
