Building Guest Teacher

About the role

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the urban community of Lansing, MI. We are unique due to the variety of educational options available to families and staff members. Our mission is to provide an excellent education in a safe and nurturing environment. We are currently hiring a Building Guest Teacher to fill gaps in our instructional teams.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate passion for and expertise in elementary content areas
• Provide world-class instruction in literacy, math, and other content areas to elementary students
• Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction
• Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions
• Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
• Be open to changes in assignment as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission

Requirements

• One of the following: 60 college credits, Associate's degree
• Previous successful elementary teaching experience in an urban setting
• Interest in pursuing teaching as a long-term career

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with differentiated instruction
• Knowledge of current educational trends and practices

Benefits

Guest Teachers are paid on the LSEA Hourly Salary Schedule. They are paid from Column CC, and unless otherwise mentioned, will be paid for 35 hours a week during the school year. Most all candidates will start at the bottom of the range provided, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
