About the Role

This position is for an individual with interest in Building Enclosures, providing consulting services for all major components and systems of buildings related to the building enclosure and similar facility infrastructure across a broad array of projects and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform architectural/engineering analysis and provide recommendations for building enclosure systems.
  • Lead or participate in field investigations, design, and development of plans and specifications.
  • Review drawings and construction to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Research and resolve design and construction problems.
  • Write, prepare, and review reports related to services provided.
  • Communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical clients and project teams.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track project progress, manage budgets, and implement changes as needed.
  • Provide services for existing or proposed projects in commercial, retail, multi-family, hotel, senior living, industrial, and governmental sectors.
  • Conduct condition assessments and detailed evaluations of building enclosure systems, including components and cladding, roofs, facades, plaza deck, and below-grade waterproofing systems.
  • Use assessment techniques such as visual examination, non-destructive testing, laboratory testing, and destructive examinations.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates for projects.
  • Develop marketing strategies and present qualifications to clients.
  • Act as a senior-level resource and specialist for building enclosure projects, including BECx (commissioning) and building enclosure testing.
  • Manage, lead, or consult on large, complex, or unique projects.
  • Lead the building enclosure group and assist in building the local team.
  • Analyze technical aspects of the subject area, define scope, and select problems for investigation.
  • Develop novel concepts and approaches, and recommend solutions.
  • Identify potential clients and sell the company’s consulting services.
  • Identify building enclosure opportunities in the regional area and collaborate with staff to develop proposals and statements of qualifications.
  • Provide leadership, technical direction, expertise, and training to staff on client projects.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning and report safety issues to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Science, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a similar field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Building Enclosure services.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC), or relevant certification.
  • Preferred certifications: Air Barrier Association of America "ABAA," ABAA Inspector, Certified EIFS Inspector, Certified Thermographer.
  • Expertise in building enclosure systems, roofing, and building structural systems.
  • Experience in building enclosure restoration and consulting, including managing rainwater and water vapor transmission, air barrier design, and controlling energy consumption through the building envelope.
  • Experience working on suspended scaffolding, vertical heights, mid- to high-rise building facades, and roofs.
