Building Engineer I - Plumber - Denver Sheriff Department
About the role
The Denver Sheriff Department is the largest Sheriff Department agency in the state of Colorado, comprising several divisions and diverse operations. These include two jails, court system security, state inmate transportation, extradition duties, fugitive and K-9 units, and security at DenverHealth Medical Center. Responsibilities
- Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and related building systems.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and organizational procedures.
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and general servicing of plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Install, modify, or upgrade plumbing systems and fixtures for new construction, tenant improvements, and remodeling projects based on specifications and code requirements.
- Respond to service requests, diagnose plumbing issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of fire protection systems.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and written or verbal instructions; prepare sketches as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and complete daily activity reports.
- Estimate materials, labor, and equipment requirements for assigned projects.
- Provide support across multiple skilled trades as needed for maintenance and repair tasks.
Requirements
- Commercial service experience.
- Comfortable with working in a jail setting.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Desire to learn other skills.
Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate.
- Three (3) years of experience in building operations, engineering, and equipment and systems maintenance.
Skills
- Strong troubleshooting abilities.
- Attention to detail.
- Flexibility to assist across multiple trades.

Target Pay Based on Experience and Education.
Schedule
The main duties of this role will be to work 4 consecutive 10 hour shifts.

Background Investigation
The selected individual will be required to complete and pass a background investigation that encompasses the applicant's employment and criminal history.
