About The Opportunity
Chelsea Piers is looking to hire a Building Engineer to support its growing business. You will be part of the hard-working and dedicated team that keeps the businesses operating smoothly. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving maintenance and mechanical issues across the Chelsea Piers property. This role reports to the Chief Engineer. This is a non-union job.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience, including troubleshooting and repair of chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, RTUs, VAV systems, and hydronic heating/cooling systems
- Proficiency with BAS/BMS controls and preventive maintenance programs
- Strong HVAC diagnostics and performance optimization skills; able to independently identify and resolve issues (hands-on, not just oversight)
- Experience maintaining large, occupied facilities
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, plus 3-5 years of experience in facilities mechanical equipment management
- Solid understanding of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) and ability to read technical plans
- Must obtain/maintain Certified Pool Operator (CPO), EPA 608, and FDNY Fire Guard/Certificate of Fitness certifications
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Creative problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and early morning/midday/late evening shifts
