About the Role

This full-time Building Engineer position performs skilled and technical duties for Intuit Dome and the Kia Forum, including installing, maintaining, replacing, repairing, and operating a wide range of building systems and equipment. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of equipment maintenance and service, with the ability to work independently in a safe and efficient manner. This position supports a 24/7 operation with a flexible and rotating schedule, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays to cover high-profile concerts and NBA games.

Responsibilities

  • Performs operation, maintenance, installation, replacement, and repair of:
    • All water and air source heat pumps, valves, appurtenances, and lines used in the distribution of heated or processed water.
    • Refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves, float valves, and all refrigerant lines and devices used to control temperature and air conditioning systems.
    • Air compressors, distribution lines, and all valves and devices for air control.
    • Water filters, water softeners, brine systems, piping, pumps, sinks, toilet bowls, supply lines, drains, waterlines, control devices, and sprinkler systems.
    • All types of electrical motors and engines used to power pumps, compressors, and fans.
    • All electrical work, installation, inspection, and repair, including systems with voltage ranging from 24V to 460V and proper Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
    • All emergency generator systems.
    • Building automation systems (BAS) for HVAC, including consoles, data gathering panels, remote sensors, and indicating devices.
    • Sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps including basins, water closets, urinals, and piping.
    • Building plumbing, sewer, and ejector pump systems.
    • All kitchen equipment except where serviced by specialized contractors.
    • All life safety-related equipment.
  • Interprets blueprints for all building layouts (electrical, plumbing, duct, structural).
  • Researches and solicits vendors for repair parts and preventive maintenance parts for stationary equipment.
  • Maintains electronic records of equipment performance and analyzes data to enhance system performance and equipment longevity.
  • Complies with all federal, state, city, and local ordinances.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Four years of journey-level experience operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC/heat pump equipment or a combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Universal EPA 608 certification.
  • Operation of and training in Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Central Utility Plant (CUP) operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in the repair of heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Through knowledge of operating principles, efficiency optimization practices, and compliance requirements of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Ability to use computerized energy management software.
  • Ability to recognize and locate conditions requiring repair and maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of tools necessary to operate, install, maintain, and repair equipment, including special equipment.
  • Computer literacy to use business software, the Internet, and enter/retrieve data.
  • Demonstrated customer service, problem-solving, and common-sense skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
  • Able to read, write, and take directions in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and positively interact in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Essential Functions (Physical Requirements & Working Conditions)

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead and horizontally as needed.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs and work safely at various heights, including the top of stairways.
  • Ability to work in confined or enclosed spaces, including elevators.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and supervisors in person and through radio or other communication devices.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and direct sunlight).
  • Ability to work in environments with elevated noise levels, crowds, and vibration typical of live sporting events and entertainment venues.

Pay

Compensation range for this role is $48.00 - $50.00 per hour. Compensation package offered will be based on multiple individualized factors, including a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is classified as non-exempt.
