About the role

The Building Engineer role is a full-time position offering a competitive hourly wage range of $36.13 - $39.54 per hour. The position involves a flexible work schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex maintenance and repair issues for the building's shell, core, and equipment.
  • Maintain and optimize facilities for clients, customers, and staff in a safe operating condition.
  • Execute a preventative and reactive maintenance program.
  • Resolve immediate operational and building safety concerns.
  • Utilize advanced skills to perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs.
  • Monitor building system operations and performance.
  • Complete self-performance of specific and/or several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, refrigeration, and heating and cooling.
  • Respond to escalations and communicate professionally.
  • Support the Technical Services Team and report to the Site Operations Manager.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Business Unit and across the company.
  • Manage and support maintenance of elevators, fire life safety systems, and UPSs.
  • Ensure the CMMS system is up-to-date with accurate and appropriate data around assets and maintenance programs.
  • Provide or direct equipment and system operational modifications, such as critical switching, lockout/tagout, and safe working area setup.
  • Debrief and safely escort specialty subcontractors off-site after completing assigned or contracted duties.
  • Provide data for reports and equipment evaluations or scope of work for outside contractors.
  • Order supplies for PMs and RMs as needed; ensure on-site tool crib inventory is correctly managed.
  • Perform visual roof inspections and make minor repairs as needed.
  • Perform general maintenance tech duties as assigned by Site Operations Management team.
  • On-call (1st line of support) to address escalations or emergencies if they arise according to designated on-call schedule.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally, appropriately, and in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Operations & Maintenance, Construction, Facilities Maintenance, and Building Engineering roles.
  • A high school diploma or vocational or trade school/college degree.
  • EPA Universal/608 Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of Work Order Control procedures and required time management to work within CMMS Systems.
  • Experience with subcontractor and vendor contract management.
  • Experience with managing key performance indicators as provided by Site Operations Manager.
  • Able to use specialty hand tools, specialty diagnostic tools, and knowledge of maintenance shop practices with previous experience at the Journeyman level (Electrical and Mechanical Equipment systems).
  • Basic computer proficiency skills (Word, Outlook, CMMS Systems, Smartphone Systems).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Valid state driver’s license; may be required to travel via car within a specific metropolitan region as a part of the mobile engineering team.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $36.13 per hour - $39.54 per hour.
