Building Engineer

About the role

Harbor Group Management Company is a multi‑billion dollar real estate investment and property management firm dedicated to outstanding customer service and providing an exquisite living experience for residents. The Building Engineer position is located at One Dulles Tower, Herndon, VA.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains all HVAC and MEP equipment under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
• Develops and maintains positive tenant relations through prompt, courteous response to tenant requests.
• Operates equipment as necessary within guidelines set by the Chief Engineer to assure proper building functions.
• Maintains professional appearance and manner at all times while in the complex.
• Maintains calm demeanor in emergency situations.
• Assists in complying with all City, State and Federal safety and environmental laws, codes, standards and regulations.
• Performs general maintenance and limited operations of the HVAC and MEP equipment under supervision and direction of the Chief Engineer.
• Assists in the ordering, stocking and inventory of parts and supplies as directed by the Chief Engineer.
• Induces water treatment chemicals in the heating and cooling systems at the proper amounts and times.
• Performs chemical analysis tests as set forth by the supervisor, reporting any abnormalities and substandard results.
• Performs ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on building and tenant mechanical, electrical and other installed systems, equipment, and components.

Qualifications

• 2 years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering.
• Strong background in technical aspects of HVAC, plumbing, electrical equipment, repair and maintenance and overall system design and application.
• Preference for Universal CFC recovery certification.
• Must be willing to work on call as needed.

Pay

Hourly rate will be based on experience and qualification match. Position is eligible for discretionary bonus.
