Support the operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of campus facilities through a variety of skilled trades to help ensure safe and efficient building operations while promoting energy conservation across campus.

Work Schedule

M-F 3:00pm - 11:00pm

Rate of Pay

This is a Full-Time Building Engineer position with a starting salary of $78,312. The salary offer is in alignment with the College's compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary

Engage in multi-craft work in order to operate, maintain, repair, and modify building equipment and structures.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Minimum of 2 years experience in commercial building maintenance.
• Reading, writing and English speaking skills.
• Must be able to work in varying physical environments, including heights and outside weather.
• Must have a valid Illinois driver's license.
• Must be able to be contacted by telephone for emergencies, and be able to respond to the College within 30 minutes.
• Must be able to work from a ladder.
• Must be able to work on feet at least 8 hours.
• Working experience of steam and hot water boilers.
• Knowledge of water treatment.
• Must be able to lift 100lbs.
• Working experience of the following, but not limited to: Electrical up to 480 volts, HVAC controls, Kitchen equipment, Steam and hot water boilers, Absorbers and chillers
• Must have an EPA - Refrigerant Recovery Act - Universal Certification

Essential Duties

• Engage in multi-craft work assigned by Manager of Plant Operations.
• Operate, maintain and repair equipment.
• Operate and maintain all H.V.A.C equipment.
• Maintain and repair lab and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain and repair building plumbing and electrical systems.
• Engage in controlled maintenance inspections and perform the necessary work to keep all equipment in safe and efficient operating order.
• Perform remodeling and construction work within the scope of developed skills.
• Must perform duties in a manner so as to conserve energy of all utilities.

Other Duties

• Learn new skills through "on the job" experience as well as through formal and informal training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Plant Operations.
