About the role
We are seeking a skilled DDC Controls Technician to join our team. This role focuses on the installation, programming, and troubleshooting of Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for commercial HVAC applications. You will work with electrical control panels, sensors, actuators, and building automation systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test low-voltage control wiring for DDC systems
- Program and configure controllers, sensors, and actuators for HVAC equipment
- Troubleshoot and diagnose control system issues using diagnostic tools and software
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure timely project completion
- Read and interpret control drawings, schematics, and sequence of operations
- Perform system start-up, calibration, and commissioning
- Provide technical support and training to customers and junior technicians
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in DDC controls or HVAC electrical controls installation
- Proficiency with at least one major building automation platform (e.g., Trane, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Distech)
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioning units, and refrigeration equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various indoor and outdoor environments
Qualifications
- Trade school diploma or associate degree in HVAC, electrical, or related field
- Relevant certifications (e.g., EPA 608, NATE, or manufacturer-specific certifications) are a plus
- Experience with BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks communication protocols
- Familiarity with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and building management software
