About the role

Join our Siemens Smart Buildings Internship Program as a Building Automation Systems Project Management Intern in Summer 2027. This internship offers hands-on experience in project management within the building automation sector, focusing on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure. You’ll rotate through various departments, gaining real-world skills and professional development while contributing to projects that improve how we live, work, and move.

Siemens Building Automation Systems is a building management system (BMS) that automatically controls lighting, heating, cooling, ventilation, fire detection, security, and other critical building functions. The system integrates sensors, controllers, software, and communication devices to manage HVAC, lighting, security, fire safety, and more for buildings of all types and sizes.

Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and project-specific documents to establish a project delivery plan.
  • Develop and maintain a project schedule, coordinating needs with the project team and identifying time-sensitive installation requirements.
  • Manage the procurement of supplies and materials to complete projects.
  • Participate in project cost reviews and track labor resources and project progress.
  • Pursue project-specific change-order opportunities.
  • Complete project-specific close-out documentation.
  • Rotate through other departments (e.g., sales, service) to learn how the branch organization operates as a whole.
  • Spend 80% of your time on project management activities, 10% with the sales department, and 10% in the service department.
  • Gain experience in core business segments, including HVAC, Fire/Life Safety, Security, and Energy/Sustainability Systems.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment as an undergraduate at an accredited 4-year U.S. college or university, pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Energy/Sustainability, or Built Environment.
  • Rising Sophomore or Junior, graduating between December 2027 – May 2029.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week for the 10-week program (May – July or June – August).
  • No relocation or housing stipend provided.
  • This program does not support students on visas such as F1, J1, M1, H1B, OPT, or CPT.

Qualifications

  • Ability to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
  • Skilled in using Windows laptops and adept at learning new software for programming and troubleshooting automation equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to customers.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Successful completion of Siemens Summer 2026 Project Management Internship Program (if applicable).
