Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician
Job Description
Support the full life cycle of small-scale projects from initial concept design through project completion
Perform routine maintenance tasks on facilities and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, digital controls, and other mechanical systems
Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with facilities and equipment, and repair or replace defective parts as needed
Respond to emergency maintenance requests
Conduct site visits to document existing facility conditions and develop new requirements
Prepare technical memoranda/reports to document facility conditions and project status
Ensure that all facilities follow applicable codes and regulations
Maintain accurate records related to maintenance activities and administrative tasks, including work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, and time sheets
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience without a license or certification OR 2 years of experience if licensed/certified
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferred
Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings and digital graphic logic
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant Reclamation and Recovery Certification
Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systems
Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) required
Familiarity with state and local building codes and OSHA regulations a plus
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must currently hold or be able to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance
Must be a U.S. citizen, as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
Must pass a pre-employment physical exam
Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds
May require work in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation) are present; this position will require participation in a medical surveillance program
Must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts
Must be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items around
Must be able to go up and down stairs

About the Role
Provides support to facilities projects at the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head, MD.
Responsibilities
Performs HVAC control systems installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks related to mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage controls
Scopes, estimates, and plans for minor HVAC repair projects
Requirements
Must hold or be able to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance
