About the role

This position is responsible for the overall supervision of Building Automation (BA) projects, ensuring they align with design, budget, and schedule. It involves leading and managing teams, implementing and directing change, working independently, resolving problems and concerns, and adhering to numerous safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Apply for and obtain all necessary permits or licenses.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to representatives of the owner or developer.
  • Track the progress and quality of work being performed.
  • Manage and lead team to completion of project, including post mortems, regular statuses, and continual improvement and adjustments.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by inspecting or reviewing projects to monitor compliance with Harris and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Closeout projects by performing site walkthroughs and inspections, ensuring project close-out including Operation and Maintenance manuals, owner training, punch list, commissioning, etc.
  • Attend pre-bid, turnover, and preplanning meetings as required. Plan, schedule, or coordinate controls project team activities in line with overall project schedule and provide updates to project team as part of regularly scheduled project meetings.
  • Assign duties or work schedules to project team employees. Develop or update project plans for projects including information such as project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing.
  • Implement new or modified plans in response to delays, change orders, or construction site emergencies.
  • Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) and effectively complete change orders as needed.
  • Protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with client. Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports. Be aware of monthly figures, taking proactive action to prevent losses and maximize profitability. Address and correct issues when the project exceeds budget or scope.
  • Assume ownership for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project. Review or complete change order pricing. Manage contracts or negotiate revisions to contractual agreements (change orders) with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, or subcontractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management preferred.
  • 5+ years of prior project management experience.
  • 5+ years of basic understanding of business administration and management principles.
  • 5+ years of basic understanding of engineering and technology including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • 5+ years of basic understanding of building and construction materials, tools, and processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience with project planning and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
