Responsibilities

  • Lead underwriting decisions and drive profitable results with a clear focus on long-term success
  • Consistently exercise sound judgment with respect and integrity while delivering underwriting profit
  • Technically assess complex business proposals, analyze natural catastrophe exposures, and evaluate peril modelling, together with calculating pricing and defining coverage
  • Lead and further develop our existing broker and customer relationships
  • Operate in a fast-paced environment with experience to discern priorities and multi-task effectively
  • Travel within the United States and to London, UK
  • Actively contribute to underwriting strategy and broker engagement with high responsiveness
  • Drive team performance by mentoring and developing underwriters, reinforcing underwriting discipline, and contributing to consistent decision-making across the portfolio

Qualifications, Skills And Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the Builder’s Risk insurance market with an established and proven track record and strong commitment to a long-term underwriting career with BHSI
  • Motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a wider transatlantic US/UK team
  • Congfident communicator with ability to listen, negotiate, and present detailed proposals
  • Strong underwriting acumen and attention to detail
  • Highly experienced in reviewing policies and evaluating broker manuscript forms, together with a deep understanding of natural catastrophe peril modelling and pricing for multi-year construction policies
  • Long term and established broker relationships within the retail & wholesale brokerage community both regionally and nationally
  • Willing to travel on business as required
  • BA/BS degree qualified. Engineering degree a plus
