About the role
Brain Co. is building the world's first AI-native permitting system and seeks individuals with firsthand experience in the permitting process to advise on its development. The role is designed for 1) homebuilders and developers, including production builders, custom builders, small regionals, and 2) architects and 3) engineers. The position requires a commitment of 2 hours per week for 3-4 months, with potential for extension.
What You'll Do
- Walk us through how you submit - Share what is included in your submission, what you've learned to front-load, and areas where submissions often get tripped up.
- Use the product on a project - Test the AI-permitting software alongside your usual process and share your experiences.
- Review AI output on real permit submissions - Identify errors, gaps, or misapplied code in the AI's output.
- Help us understand how review actually works - Provide insights into the actual review process across different jurisdictions and permit types.
- Identify what a good submission looks like - Review sample packages and provide feedback on what would pass, require comments, or be rejected.
Who We're Looking For
- Able to walk us through your own permitting experience, not just manage the process from a distance.
- Has active or former experience as a plans examiner, permit engineer, architect of record, or homebuilder.
- Has deep knowledge of the permitting process in Florida, Texas, or California, including the relevant codes, departments, local amendments, and unwritten rules.
- Can identify what works and what doesn't in the current process and is comfortable sharing these opinions.
- Willing to share examples of both successful and unsuccessful permit submissions.
- No technical background required; your role is to evaluate the AI's performance, not explain how it works.
