Build Engineer

About the role

The organization operates in the simulation software industry, providing Cat® Simulators under license from Caterpillar Inc. It addresses challenges in efficient software development by supporting and enhancing systems that enable simulation development teams to build, integrate, and release software effectively across multiple products.

The Build Engineer role is focused on developing and improving build, integration, and delivery systems to ensure the reliability and scalability of the engineering pipeline. This position contributes to the efficiency of software delivery by maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows, collaborating across teams to identify and resolve development bottlenecks, and participating in the full software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and improve build and release systems across multiple products.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and deployment workflows.
• Support development workflows using Bamboo, Jira, and other Atlassian products.
• Build and troubleshoot integrations between build systems, issue tracking, source control, and related platforms.
• Collaborate with developers, QA, producers, and leadership to enhance development efficiency.
• Write clean, maintainable automation code and configuration.
• Debug and improve build performance, infrastructure reliability, and pipeline stability.
• Participate in technical discussions and internal initiatives across products.
• Engage in technical planning through delivery within an agile environment.
• Assist in integrating modern tooling, AI-assisted workflows, and scalable infrastructure.
• Contribute to technical documentation, process improvements, and best practices.
• Support discussions on future tooling, pipeline strategy, and server architecture.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in build engineering, DevOps, release engineering, or related fields.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated build systems.
• Familiarity with Bamboo and Jira in software development.
• Experience integrating Atlassian products into engineering workflows.
• Understanding of software delivery processes, build workflows, release practices, and dependency management.
• Experience with source/version control systems such as Git.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
