BUILD Employment & Internship Specialist
About the role
Bethel University is seeking a candidate to provide comprehensive oversight of the career development and internship aspects of the program to ensure students successfully fulfill their requirements for a Certificate in Applied Studies. This highly collaborative position blends classroom teaching with program management.
Responsibilities
Instruction in Career Development – 35% Teach up to 16 BUILD credits per year focused on the career development aspects of the program. Credits may include BUILD Jobs and Employment (BJE), BUILD Independent Study (BIS), and BUILD Internship (BIN). (3 in-person classes per semester)
Internship Program Management – 40% Plan, develop, arrange, and provide ongoing support for student internship sites. Collaborate with the Director to ensure successful internship experiences. Plan and execute internship fairs. Help students meet Certificate in Applied Studies requirements and prepare for integrated employment. Manage the vehicle scheduling for internships for students in BUILD.
Supervision of Job Mentors – 20% Hire, train, and supervise Job Mentors (student workers) to support students in their internships.
Personalized Learning Plans (PLP) – 5% Design and monitor PLPs for student advisees, including 2 meetings per student per year. Participate in PLP meetings/events and communicate with parents/guardians as appropriate regarding internships and student progress.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: 3+ years of experience working with students with disabilities. Previous experience teaching or working at the college level preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Expertise of characteristics of students with intellectual disabilities. Working knowledge of disability accommodations and supports required for students with intellectual disabilities in a postsecondary program. Working knowledge of community agencies and service groups focused on supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in developing their employment skills. Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students. Ability to establish and maintain open and cooperative communication. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to hire, train, and manage student workers.

Pay
The annual salary range for this role is $50,000-$53,850
Schedule
This is a 40 hour per week, 11 months per year position.
