About the role
The Budtender is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience by providing personalized cannabis recommendations, product education, and outstanding customer service. This role supports the dispensary's day-to-day operations by assisting guests, processing transactions, ensuring compliance with Michigan cannabis regulations, and contributing to a welcoming, efficient, and professional retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers, listen to their needs, and make personalized product recommendations.
- Explain the differences between cannabis types (flower, edibles, concentrates) and how to use them safely.
- Check IDs to verify legal age, adhere to purchase limits, and follow state and local cannabis laws.
- Process transactions using a Point-of-Sale (POS) system and handle cash accurately.
- Assist with daily cleaning, stocking shelves, and maintaining accurate product inventory.
- Improve personal Average Order Value (AOV), Units Per Transaction (UPT), and average daily sales month over month.
Requirements
- 6+ months of experience in the cannabis industry.
- Cash handling experience.
- Customer service experience.
- Product knowledge (preferred but not required).
- Must be 21+ years of age and pass a background check.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, standing, walking, and climbing for long periods of time.
Work Environment
The environment can be loud and fast-paced, with specialized product displays (flower, edibles, concentrates). Staff must be adaptable to busy rushes, as wait times and long lines are common during peak hours.
Pay
$14.00 - $15.00 per hour. You keep the tips you earn; no tip pool.
