About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing the budget and five-year capital improvement plan, performing budget management and analysis, and assisting with grant reporting and performance measurement.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes budget submissions, as well as revenue and expenditure trends, and prepares revenue and expenditure projections for current and future year budgets.
- Makes sure revenues and expenditures are in compliance with budgetary rules and makes necessary adjustments.
- Presents an annual budget document and Capital Improvement Program eligible for the GFOA Budget Award.
- Evaluates cost allocation plans and recommends adjustments.
- Reviews budget policies and procedures and recommends improvements.
- Participates in performance measures and budgeting for outcomes.
- Ensures compliance with applicable state statutes, including Truth in Millage.
- Establishes budget timeline that includes processes, forms, meetings, workshops, and delivery.

- Knowledge of generally accepted governmental accounting and budget principles and practices.
- Knowledge of rules promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
- Knowledge of computerized accounting, budgeting and financial management systems.
- Knowledge of electronic spreadsheets and other computerized financial reporting tools, including the ability to design and maintain spreadsheets.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and present financial information.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing on individual and group levels.
- Ability to publicly present budget information and respond to questions from elected officials and management.
- Ability to work independently and plan work assignments for staff.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with directors, employees, and other agencies.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, financial management or a related field.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in finance or accounting is preferred.
- Five (5) years’ experience in public-sector accounting and finance, two of which with city or county government.
- Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience in budgeting, financial trend analysis, and forecasting is desired.
Skills

Pay
Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
