Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other instructors in preparing, administering, and grading examinations for the course.
• Participate in the preparation of final evaluations for the course.
• Ensure class attendance and grades are recorded and submitted accurately.
• Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to maintain program quality.
• Plan and implement orientation for new faculty in both theory and clinical settings.
• Utilize teaching principles that recognize the characteristics of adult learners.
• Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction.
• Demonstrate or acquire skills for using online activities to enhance course content during interactive teaching and learning.
• Maintain student records, including attendance, skills check-off forms, and program data collection.
• Submit required program reports and forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.
• Stay current with new technologies and safety regulations.
• Participate in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program.
• Attend faculty meetings.
• Plan and supervise student clinical experiences in assigned healthcare facilities.
• Evaluate student performance in relation to clinical learning outcomes according to Unitek College and Department of Nursing policies.
• Provide immediate feedback on clinical performance or specific events after observation.
• Assist in maintaining student records of clinical attendance and skills check-off forms.
• Ensure clinical assignments meet both student and facility needs.
• Determine the best methods to observe, instruct, and evaluate students.
• Verify that clinical facilities meet all health and safety requirements for Unitek College students.
• Provide ongoing communication access to students through office hours, electronic communication, and other methods.
• Participate in student advising activities.

Requirements

• Hold a valid, active license issued by the State Board of Registered Nursing.
• Master of Nursing or higher degree from an accredited college or university, including coursework in nursing or education, administration, OB, Pediatrics, or Psychiatry.
• At least four years’ experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
• A year of clinical experience within the last five years (clinical teaching applies toward direct patient care).
• Clinically competent as defined in CCR Section 1420(c).
• Expertise in one of the following areas of nursing: Psychiatric, Geriatrics, Med/Surg, Pediatrics, OB-Gyn, or Mental Health.

No previous teaching experience is required. Our Faculty Development training program will equip you with the tools needed for success in the classroom.
