BSA Analyst II

About the role
The BSA Analyst supports the BSA Officer by assisting in performing various quality control reviews. This role is responsible for researching, analyzing, and reporting any activity believed to be associated with unusual and suspicious account activity, including potential structuring, money laundering, or terrorist financing, to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act. The BSA Analyst identifies unusual transactions and escalates incidents to the BSA Officer in a timely and accurate manner.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day monitoring and/or investigation of potentially suspicious activity.
- Maintain knowledge of BSA aspects of Compliance regulatory mandates, handle highly confidential information, and adhere to sensitive timelines.
- Document findings in a concise, detailed, and accurate manner, consistent with policy procedure and enhanced due diligence.
- Review daily large currency transaction reports and CTRs for accuracy; perform research on suspicious activity.
- Assist in reviewing and researching SAR referrals, as well as maintaining documentation.
- Support the BSA Officer in ensuring all BSA/AML, OFAC, and CIP policies and procedures are up to date and consistently followed.
- Review and research daily alerts in Verafin.
- Support other Bank staff as necessary.
- Review CIP information/documentation pertaining to BSA for accuracy and completion.
- Assist in identifying and evaluating the bank’s risk areas.
- Facilitate collection of audit materials required by BSA compliance co-sourced audit partners and regulatory examination groups; transfer materials to the appropriate electronic portal.
- Complete required regulatory compliance training as assigned on or before deadlines.
- Review and collect account data for High Risk and exempt customers to compare and analyze information from previous to current review periods.
- Perform daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual monitoring of the BSA program.
- Cooperate with, participate in, and support adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness, as well as the Bank's compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Community Reinvestment Act, Bank Secrecy Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, SAFE Act).
- Participate in required training sessions, including training for compliance with BSA/AML policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of extensive knowledge in banking and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Proven time management and organizational skills, as well as effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to make critical decisions in a time-sensitive and regulatory-mandated environment.
- Ability to work independently but cohesively within a team of specialized associates, with high integrity and ethics.
- Exceptional analytical skills, judgment, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.

- Downtown La Plata Branch - 202 Centennial St., La Plata, MD 20646
Schedule
- Full-time, non-exempt.
- Days of work: Monday-Friday.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $24.00 to $28.00 hourly. Actual compensation offered may vary based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements, and/or skill level.
