Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee broadcast membership matters as part of the broadcast department in the San Francisco - Northern California Local.
- Assist the Local executive director and broadcast labor counsel staff in their negotiation, administration and enforcement of broadcast contracts.
- Responsible for broadcast member outreach and various internal and external organizing initiatives.
- Provide support to members by handling or redirecting membership and/or health and retirement benefit inquiries.
- Support the Local staff, Board of Directors, and member committees.
Qualifications
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Able to negotiate and advocate effectively with tact and diplomacy.
- Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact.
- Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally.
- Strong mathematical and financial skills.
- Proficiency in PC applications, Internet-based systems, and utilizing social media.
- Detail oriented with the ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks under deadlines.
- Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.
- Hold yourself and others accountable for a high level of performance and integrity.
- Capable of taking direction from more than one supervisor.
- Must be able to work in a challenging environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
- Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such a level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA's sole discretion.
- Must be available and willing to work extended hours per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
- Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- At least five years' experience, preferably with a labor organization or in the field of labor relations, focusing on contract negotiations, contract administration, dispute resolution, and employee benefits.
- Must have a current driver's license, automobile (in reliable working condition), and current automobile insurance that meets the state minimum requirements.
- Knowledge of entertainment and/or news.
