About the Role
The Broadcast Control Technician (Master Control Operator) serves as the technical "mission control" for on-air and digital channels. This role ensures TV programming and commercials air smoothly and accurately, requiring advanced comfort with computers, multitasking, and adherence to strict protocols. While training is provided, the position demands a strong ability to learn new software and follow procedures under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Monitor screens and computer systems to ensure programming and ads run on time without interruption.
- Review upcoming schedules for missing files and timing errors in logs, correcting issues before going on-air.
- Follow daily schedules closely and execute backup plans quickly during technical issues.
- Leave clear notes detailing potential issues to ensure smooth handoffs to the next operator.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic computer literacy, including navigating files, web browsing, and using Microsoft Outlook for email.
- Eagerness and ability to learn new software and specialized systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow step-by-step procedures calmly under pressure.
No prior industry experience is required; on-the-job training is provided.
