Job Position Summary
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Technical Trade school preferred
- Proven experience as a Manual Machinist, particularly with Bridgeport machines
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Strong attention to details
- Organizational skills
- Basic computer skills
- Time Management Skills
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to setup, operate, breakdown and maintain a Bridgeport, Prototrac control, Jig bore, Jig grinder, and Surface grinder, manual lathes, and horning machines
- Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and company operation sheets
- Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
- Required to pass the Certified Operator Program and maintain certification status
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to safety regulation and standard
- Follow Safety culture and wear PPE when required
- Operates, setup, and breakdown conventional machines to produce products in accordance with production needs
- Produces assigned products in accordance with verbal and written instructions
- Read and interpret customer blueprints and company operation sheets to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
- Records length of time for each job, and quantity of materials used for each job
- Verifies and visually inspects work and dimensions per operations sheet to specification using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and preset gages
- Calculate speeds/feeds
- Maintains specifications by observing tooling; taking measurements, detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; replacing worn tools
- Maintains tools, gages, and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe manner
- Operates within AS9100/ISO9001 requirements to include proper documentation, revision control, traceability, and lot control
- Performs regular daily maintenance on equipment and work area
- Reports any problems or discrepancies to immediate supervisor
- Follows 6s Procedures and maintains a clean organized work area
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Working Conditions
- Normal Production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines
- Physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts
- Breathing fumes, dust, and mist
- Skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid
- Exposure to sharp metal edges
- May be asked to travel back and forth between Southwick and Westfield facilities
Physical Requirements
- Must have ability to read applicable customer documents with or without corrective lenses
- May have to lift up to thirty (30) pounds at a time, as required
- Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods of time
