Job Position Summary

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Technical Trade school preferred
• Proven experience as a Manual Machinist, particularly with Bridgeport machines
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Strong attention to details
• Organizational skills
• Basic computer skills
• Time Management Skills
• Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to setup, operate, breakdown and maintain a Bridgeport, Prototrac control, Jig bore, Jig grinder, and Surface grinder, manual lathes, and horning machines
• Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and company operation sheets
• Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
• Required to pass the Certified Operator Program and maintain certification status

Duties/Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety regulation and standard
• Follow Safety culture and wear PPE when required
• Operates, setup, and breakdown conventional machines to produce products in accordance with production needs
• Produces assigned products in accordance with verbal and written instructions
• Read and interpret customer blueprints and company operation sheets to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
• Records length of time for each job, and quantity of materials used for each job
• Verifies and visually inspects work and dimensions per operations sheet to specification using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and preset gages
• Calculate speeds/feeds
• Maintains specifications by observing tooling; taking measurements, detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; replacing worn tools
• Maintains tools, gages, and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe manner
• Operates within AS9100/ISO9001 requirements to include proper documentation, revision control, traceability, and lot control
• Performs regular daily maintenance on equipment and work area
• Reports any problems or discrepancies to immediate supervisor
• Follows 6s Procedures and maintains a clean organized work area
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Working Conditions

• Normal Production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines
• Physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts
• Breathing fumes, dust, and mist
• Skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid
• Exposure to sharp metal edges
• May be asked to travel back and forth between Southwick and Westfield facilities

Physical Requirements

• Must have ability to read applicable customer documents with or without corrective lenses
• May have to lift up to thirty (30) pounds at a time, as required
• Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods of time
