Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Engineer III

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Engineer III to perform routine, in-depth, and fracture critical inspections. This opportunity includes bridge load ratings and bridge construction inspection oversight.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
• Identifies discrepancies in results.
• Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Requirements

• BA/BS + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Valid DMV license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bridge design or load rating experience.
• 2+ years' experience of in-service bridge inspections highly preferred.
• Engineer in Training (EIT).
• PE highly preferred.
• Certified Bridge Inspector/Team Leader status in at least 1 state.
• AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (BrR) experience.
• FHWA-NHI-130055 or 130056 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Certification.
• FHWA-NHI-130078 NSTM Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges Certification.
• Experience operating snooper trucks, bucket trucks, and man lifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bridge design or load rating experience, 2+ years' experience of in-service bridge inspections highly preferred, Engineer in Training (EIT), PE highly preferred, Certified Bridge Inspector/Team Leader status in at least 1 state, AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (BrR) experience, FHWA-NHI-130055 or 130056 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Certification, FHWA-NHI-130078 NSTM Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges Certification, Experience operating snooper trucks, bucket trucks, and man lifts.
