Bridge Inspection Team Leader
About the role
We are seeking an NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join our Transportation Business Group in South Carolina. This position may be based out of Charleston, Greenville, Columbia, or Fort Mill. The ideal candidate will lead bridge inspections and report findings according to National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS).
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and analyses of bridges and other structures using NBIS and other relevant standards.
- Lead or assist with team planning and coordination for inspections.
- Develop bridge inspection reports summarizing outcomes and condition assessments.
- Use various access techniques to complete structural field inspections.
- Lead a team to complete initial, routine, in-depth, and fracture-critical inspections of bridges and other miscellaneous structures for agencies and private owners.
- Use various access techniques to complete structural field inspections.
- Lead or assist with team planning and coordination to complete inspections.
- Develop bridge inspection reports summarizing outcomes and condition assessments completed during inspections.
Requirements
- Taken one or more structural design classes, including concrete, steel, timber, and/or foundation design.
- Experienced candidates with at least 5 years of relevant bridge inspection experience are highly desired.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Physical ability to perform field inspections of in-service bridge and culvert structures, overhead sign structures and metal traffic signal poles.
- Ability to work in challenging environments, including working from heights, in enclosed environments, and working around traffic.
- Strong communication skills.
Qualifications
- Technical school or Associate degree.
- Relevant industry certifications.
- Experience with FHWA-NHI Course Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges and FHWA-NHI Course Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques.
- Preferred qualifications include 5+ years of relevant bridge inspection experience, 3+ years of experience with a high school diploma, and 2+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and EIT.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This position has a dynamic schedule, including the potential for a mix of daytime and nighttime field work and daytime office work. Travel may sometimes be required to perform inspections, with occasional overnight stays.
