Responsibilities
- Aid in the design and creation of transportation projects for DOT, turnpike, county, and municipal clients.
- Oversee the project management and planning phases of bridge projects from initial scoping through final design plans.
- Lead, guide, and instruct production staff in the design process.
- Maintain and develop relationships with clients, serving as the primary point of contact.
- Create and present project proposals, conduct interviews, and deliver client presentations.
- Attend client meetings to ensure designs meet their needs and objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in DOT, turnpike, municipal, and county-related transportation projects.
- Prior experience in bridge design and/or roadway design, including knowledge of bridge hydraulics.
- Experience with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation products (OpenRoads, InRoads, or Geopak).
- Knowledge of and/or experience with software such as MDX, LEAP Bridge, OpenBridge Designer, BRASS-CULVERT, LARSA, and BAR7.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Preferred PE license in Kansas (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe).
- Knowledge of local standards and requirements is beneficial.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent in presentation, written communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Able to manage deadlines, make independent decisions, demonstrate good business judgment, and handle confidential information appropriately.
