About the Role

Michael Baker International is seeking a Full-Time Bridge Civil Associate I to support our office in Harrisburg, PA. The Bridge Civil Associate will join a talented team to assist in delivering important contributions for bridge projects, facing varying challenges daily. You will work alongside dedicated, enthusiastic team members using the latest design software to provide innovative solutions to transportation challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex structural analysis and prepare design calculations for structures including simple and complex bridges, box culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Develop or assist in developing structural details and construction plans.
  • Prepare geometric/bridge layouts, construction specifications, material quantity calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Perform bridge inspections.
  • Interface with staff from disciplines such as highway, traffic, civil, and planning to support diverse projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on bridges or structures from an ABET-accredited university; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 0-3 years of bridge design, analysis, inspection, and related experience.
  • EIT preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong technical and communication skills with a commitment to quality.

Skills

  • Proficiency in MicroStation, Finite Element Software, Bridge Design Software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO and PennDOT design and construction standards preferred.
  • Certified Bridge Safety Inspector (CBSI) preferred.

Pay

The approximate compensation range for this position is $69,731 - $91,543 per year. Actual compensation depends on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
