About the role
Breed Barn Lead position at our facility focuses on implementing and overseeing breeding and management programs to maximize farrowings with high-quality genetic traits.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the gestation process (breeding process) to ensure sows become pregnant.
- Assist with diagnosis and treatment of bred sows to produce the maximum number of healthy farrows.
- Update all production records.
- Ensure all biosecurity protocols are in place and followed.
- Analyze all production metrics.
- Participate in onboarding and lead new hire training.
- Administer production performance evaluations.
- Encourage employee development by identifying growth opportunities within sow farms and company.
- Implement new ideas and changes to achieve desired results.
- Update and maintain accurate farm records and reports.
Qualifications
- 1 year experience leading 2 or more employees.
- Bachelor’s degree.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong interest in working with animals with a desire to learn and self-develop.
- Detailed oriented and meticulous.
- Ability to lead others in high demand situations.
- Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Able to stand, walk and be on feet for 9+ hrs./day.
- Able to frequently bend, reach, squat and kneel.
- Must have reliable transportation.
