Breed Lead

About the role

Breed Barn Lead position at our facility focuses on implementing and overseeing breeding and management programs to maximize farrowings with high-quality genetic traits.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the gestation process (breeding process) to ensure sows become pregnant.
• Assist with diagnosis and treatment of bred sows to produce the maximum number of healthy farrows.
• Update all production records.
• Ensure all biosecurity protocols are in place and followed.
• Analyze all production metrics.
• Participate in onboarding and lead new hire training.
• Administer production performance evaluations.
• Encourage employee development by identifying growth opportunities within sow farms and company.
• Implement new ideas and changes to achieve desired results.
• Update and maintain accurate farm records and reports.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience leading 2 or more employees.
• Bachelor’s degree.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong interest in working with animals with a desire to learn and self-develop.
• Detailed oriented and meticulous.
• Ability to lead others in high demand situations.
• Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to lift up to 50lbs.
• Able to stand, walk and be on feet for 9+ hrs./day.
• Able to frequently bend, reach, squat and kneel.
• Must have reliable transportation.
