About the role
Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assists with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows. Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a key member of the breast imaging team by performing high-quality mammography exams in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
- Maintains exam rooms, ensures equipment is cleaned and checked for safety, and notifies when inventory is low.
- Performs daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
- Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusts technical factors and compression as needed.
- Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explains procedures clearly, addresses questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
- Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions
- Ability to determine appropriate technical factors
- Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations
- Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds
- Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful conditions
- Good organizational skills
- Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment
- Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to make judgments on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis
- Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures
- Maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures
- Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff

Qualifications
- High School Grad or Equivalent
- Associate Preferred
- Field Of Study N/A
- 1+ year of experience
