About the role

The Breakfast Cook position at Hy-Vee's Market Grille requires a high school diploma or equivalent and six months or less of similar or related work experience. The role involves preparing various breakfast foods, assisting customers, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service
• Greets customers and addresses them by name
• Escorts customers to products, secures items, loads/unloads heavy items, and passes along customer suggestions or requests
• Answers the telephone and provides friendly, helpful service to customers
• Works with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
• Prepares cooking surfaces, prepares vegetables, sides, meats, and breakfast foods, places food in hot cases, monitors amounts, and refills as necessary
• Ensures personal understanding of all aspects of the kitchen, understands and practices proper sanitation procedures, maintains cleanliness, adheres to company policies, and reports to work on time
• Orders product and supplies when necessary or notifies department head of needs
• Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required

Requirements

• Ability to solve practical problems and follow instructions
• Ability to do simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, count, and record
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing
• Physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision
• Able to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
• Frequent exposure to a cool and warm environment, dampness, noise from equipment, and vibrations from some equipment
• Daily exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents
• Fast-paced work environment

Skills

Knowledgeable of all menu items and able to take guest orders.
