Overview
Repair, upgrade, recondition, and remanufacture electrical equipment ranging from individual circuit breakers to complete substations. Work includes teardown, troubleshooting, rebuild, wiring, testing, and documentation in a production and service environment. Support onsite and emergency jobs when needed.
What you will do
- Breaker teardown and rebuild
- Clean electrical parts and maintain an orderly work area
- Disassemble circuit breakers and safely work with stored energy mechanisms
- Remove and reinstall electrical components with accurate documentation
- Read breaker evaluations and work orders and complete requested services
- Recondition electrical components such as auxiliary switches, motors, relays, coils, and related assemblies
- Verify electrical components function properly before installation
- Electrical troubleshooting and testing
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues on breakers
- Read and interpret OEM manuals and detailed adjustment instructions
- Read schematics including point to point and one line diagrams
- Test and troubleshoot electrical wiring
- Electrically operate breakers from wiring schematics including charge, close, and trip functions
- Operate test equipment appropriate to the breaker type
- Field support
- Support onsite work and emergency jobs when needed
- Travel to job sites as required after training

- Work orders are completed correctly with clear documentation
- Testing is thorough and issues are identified before equipment ships
- You maintain pace without cutting corners and keep a clean, organized workspace
- You collaborate well and support teammates and field needs when required
What we are looking for
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and make repairs safely
- Mechanically inclined and able to use your own tools
- Comfortable reading, studying, and applying OEM manuals and technical literature
- Strong measurement skills using tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and tape measures
- Detail oriented, well organized, team focused, and dependable
- Willing and able to work overtime as needed
- Willing to travel to job sites after training when required
Knowledge and skills
- Basic computer skills including Excel, PDF tools, and Outlook
- Strong mechanical aptitude and strong electrical fundamentals
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Able to organize work and write procedures in a logical, methodical way
- Good time management and ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
- Able to handle confidential information appropriately
- Able to work well in a team environment
Education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Relevant electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance experience preferred
Physical requirements
- Frequent walking with continuous standing and repetitive hand motion
- Occasional reaching or working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Lifting requirements include occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, and continuous lifting up to 25 pounds
