About the Role

The Braze Engineer provides brazing and assembly process assistance to the plant under the direction of the General Manager. This role is responsible for the development of brazing systems and technology to ensure services meet contractual requirements established by customers and procedures. The Braze Engineer also supports the sales function with braze-related issues and quotations.

Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, this position is deemed safety-sensitive.

Responsibilities

  • Directs activities of braze operations and maintains appropriate braze staffing to meet company goals.
  • Works with plant personnel to evaluate and solve braze-related issues.
  • Provides technical support to Sales and assists with braze-related quotations.
  • Works with customers on braze-related issues.
  • Develops new brazing processes for new work, selects the appropriate plant, places the work, and trains plant employees in accordance with BMS requirements.
  • Evaluates plant brazing capabilities to recommend new equipment, upgrades, or new technology.
  • Provides input to the Quality Group regarding brazing processes.
  • Ensures customers’ needs are met by shipping to schedule with minimum turnaround time and high quality, working closely with the Quality Manager.
  • Enforces company handbook and communicates with the Office Manager and/or General Manager on discipline-related matters.
  • Responsible for purchasing and/or approving materials for shop, facilities, tooling, and fixtures under the guidance of the General Manager.
  • Participates in staff meetings as a member of management.
  • Works in a manner consistent with the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Performs duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage to inventory.
  • Performs other duties as required by the General Manager.

Requirements

  • Engineer Degree or equivalent experience in metallurgical, materials, or welding engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in thermal process processing with emphasis on brazing processes (furnace, induction, or torch, etc.).
  • Knowledge of heat treating, operations management, metallurgy, inspection, and customer needs through technical training, seminars, or equivalent work experience.
  • Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card holders.

Skills

  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including preparing reports and attending staff meetings.
  • Must be knowledgeable of tooling needs and costs; tooling design experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and customer specifications.
  • Ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules, and accept constructive criticism.

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Must be able to work in a sitting and/or standing position for extended periods in an office/industrial environment.
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform job functions.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, and files.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $105,000 – $115,000 per year. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. This position is classified as exempt and paid on a salary basis.
