In this role, you’ll lead and implement Southern California Edison’s brand strategy and vision, aligning it with business priorities for both internal and external audiences. Oversee the brand standards guide, ensure messaging alignment across digital properties, and understand the impact of AI and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) on reputation. Shape brand strategy for enterprise advertising campaigns, use data to monitor brand impact, and cultivate trust with customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Leads strategic execution of communications strategy and measures effectiveness for the relevant team’s focus area.
  • Drives communications that inform, educate, manage risk, and mitigate crises.
  • Leads editorial development to establish a continuous and optimized presence across platforms (brainstorming, planning sessions, content pipeline, etc.).
  • Translates business goals into communications strategies, tactics, and messaging.
  • Identifies opportunities to share success stories about big initiatives and company/departmental/team priorities.
  • Provides strategic advice and counsel and develops standard work processes.
  • Recommends and creates specific communications materials such as blogs, op-eds, fact sheets, site copy, and key messages/talking points.
  • Serves as a Public Information Officer (PIO) during Incident Management Team activations, supporting customers and communities during emergencies.
  • Ensures the protection of physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and properly manages private customer data, proprietary information, and confidential records with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
  • Participates in the Incident Management Team (IMT) to support emergency response and business continuity efforts, including on-call availability on a rotating basis (every four to six weeks), extended work hours (up to 12-hour shifts), flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, in-person reporting to the Irwindale location on short notice, and completion of required IMT training.

Requirements

  • Ten or more years of experience in corporate communications within a corporate and/or agency environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in brand strategy, corporate communications, or integrated marketing.
  • Experience in a regulated industry.
  • Experience building and stewarding a corporate brand and reputation across paid, earned, and owned channels.
  • Experience using AI to affect brand perception, content creation, and reputational risk.
  • Experience with Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and integrating AI tools into content workflows while maintaining brand integrity and governance.
  • Experience using AP style in written communications.
  • Experience managing agency and vendor relationships.
  • Experience advising or supporting senior executives around brand strategy.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives spanning departments such as IT, Customer Service, and Legal.
  • Strong project and stakeholder management, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Experience with creative and AI technologies (e.g., SEMRush, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Adobe LLM Optimizer).
  • Experience with Monday.com or similar project management tools.

Schedule

  • Hybrid work mode: report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on remaining days.
  • Must work and reside in the state of California.
