On-siteArt & CreativeFull-time
About the role
Sandboxx builds consumer technology that supports service members and their families across the full military life cycle. We connect the military community, serving millions of users each year. We are seeking a creative owner for the whole brand who can leverage AI to scale design while maintaining authenticity.
Responsibilities
- Own the feeling, not just the file. Ensure assets honor the moment and align with the military audience.
- Set creative direction with marketing context. Define how new products and campaigns should look and feel.
- Build and evolve the design system. Create a living Figma library, components, naming, and guidelines.
- Make complex things feel simple and human. Simplify dense military benefits and training timelines into understandable visuals.
- Manage relationships. Handle freelancers, vendors, and physical product handoffs.
- Stand up the production engine. Build prompt libraries, templated workflows, and component systems for high-volume work.
- Art direct the outputs. Push, correct, and refine AI-generated work until it meets the Sandboxx standards.
- Design the review loop. Define how AI-generated work gets checked, corrected, and approved.
- Scale variation, not headcount. Use AI to generate options and refine the best ones.
- Keep the system honest and current. Maintain guardrails, brand training, and documentation.
- Teach the team. Build templates and tools for non-designers to self-serve on-brand work.
Requirements
- A strong designer with real taste. A high bar, a sharp eye, and the judgment to know when something is on-brand versus tone-deaf for a military audience.
- 5+ years in brand or marketing design across print and digital. Experience driving real business outcomes.
- You build systems, not just assets. You've created or maintained a design system people actually followed.
- AI-native, not just AI-curious. You already work with generative tools and understand their strengths and limits.
- An ops and automation instinct. You've built lightweight systems that make repetitive design work faster.
- Familiarity with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, including libraries, components, and version control.
- A clear communicator and collaborator. Feedback in Figma, written guidelines, concepts to non-designers.
- Ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-moving environment without letting quality slip.
Qualifications
- Fluent in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Basic motion and video editing for social clips, email headers, in-app promos.
- Merc production know-how: materials, vendors, end-to-end apparel and promo items.
- HTML/CSS familiarity for email and microsites.
- Direct-mail and print-on-demand experience: bleed, die-lines, vendor handoffs.
- Canva proficiency for building templates non-designers can run with.
- Comfort reading basic performance reports (CTR, CPM) and partnering on creative tests.
- Prior work with military, veteran, family-support, lifestyle, or apparel brands.
- Freelancer or agency management experience.
Skills
- Strong design skills with a keen eye for branding and tone.
- Experience with AI and generative tools.
- Systematic thinking and ability to build and maintain design systems.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

- Equity incentive plan
