About The Role
The Brand Studio at Checkr is the creative force behind shaping the company's visual identity and brand presence across all channels and touchpoints. As a Lead Brand Designer, you will play a pivotal role in crafting compelling visual storytelling through various mediums, including campaign creative, templates, and scalable systems that empower cross-functional teams.
This role requires a blend of creative mastery and a systems-oriented mindset, with an emphasis on making data-driven decisions rooted in customer insights. You will be responsible for maintaining high-quality standards amid multiple projects, collaborating closely with marketing and other departments to ensure brand consistency and impactful communication.
Your work will influence how Checkr is perceived externally and internally, reinforcing its position as an innovative leader in verification technology.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of in-house or agency experience working with tech or B2B brands
- Proven expertise in typography, layout, storytelling, and art direction
- Strong portfolio demonstrating mastery of visual communication and creative craft
- Fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud suite
- Experience utilizing AI-assisted tools to streamline creative workflows
- Ability to develop and enforce brand standards and systems
- Experience managing contractors and freelancers to ensure quality and consistency
- Comfort working in fast-paced environments with evolving or imperfect briefs
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with confidence to defend creative decisions to senior leadership
- Systems-minded approach to building reusable assets and templates for cross-team use
- Strong ownership mentality with a bias for action and resilience in ambiguity
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain brand systems, standards, and reusable assets to ensure consistency across all channels
- Set and oversee visual direction for projects, including photography, tone, and overall aesthetic quality
- Collaborate with marketing teams to shape how the brand appears across campaigns, digital platforms, and collateral
- Produce high-quality creative content across multiple mediums, applying expert-level skills in typography, layout, and storytelling
- Direct and review work of contractors and freelancers, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and quality expectations
- Utilize Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and AI tools to accelerate production while maintaining craft standards
- Partner with cross-functional teams to incorporate customer insights into visual storytelling and design decisions
- Present design rationale clearly and persuasively to internal stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Prioritize projects effectively, taking ownership to deliver impactful results within deadlines
