About the role
The Branch Manager oversees daily operations and growth of the branch, ensuring staff adherence to company policies and driving sales profitability. This role requires excellent leadership skills, financial P&L knowledge, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a strong commitment to customer service.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily branch operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with company standards and goals.
- Implement and monitor branch performance KPIs.
- Manage budgets and allocate resources appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
- Identify potential risks and implement measures to mitigate them.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for upper management.
- Maintain company assets, including the assigned building, and make reasonable improvements as needed and approved.
- Understand the assigned AOR industries, customer base, competition, and potential.
- Create the branch budget and ensure goals are met.
- Forecast responsibly and push for growth.
- Ensure the branch reaches its revenue goals and finds new opportunities for growth.
- Increase market presence and saturation for the assigned AOR.
- Find and pursue new customer opportunities.
- Grow the staff to prepare for business opportunities.
- Ensure company standards for gross profit (GP) are met in product sales, parts sales, and labor sales.
- Monitor and manage company expenses.
- Meet branch EBITDA goals.
- Ensure staff utilizes good practices to care for and maintain company equipment, time, and other resources to reduce costs.
- Manage vendors to ensure they are responsible business partners.
- Staff appropriately to limit nonproductive or lower efficiency hours and overtime.
- Manage straight time and overtime, adjusting staffing as needed to meet market demands and customer needs.
- Hire, train, and supervise branch staff.
- Ensure continual progression and development of staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback on staff development and coaching.
- Foster a positive work environment and encourage teamwork across all company staff.
- Handle employee complaints and/or mistakes fairly, promptly, and document interactions well.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service at every interaction point.
- Handle customer complaints and issues promptly and effectively.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers.
Support
The Branch Manager is supported by their direct supervisor, the Director of Operations, as well as corporate roles such as the General Service Manager and General Parts Manager for process training and management. Industry and area-specific sales support is also provided for growth opportunities identified by the local team.
Requirements
- Ability and willingness to work within federal, state, OSHA, MSHA, and company policies and regulations.
- Ability to work a minimum of a standard 8-hour shift and a maximum of a 14-hour shift while wearing appropriate PPE for the duration of the workday.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office software, web-based software, and the ability to learn company business software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Schedule
Minimum 8-hour shift, maximum 14-hour shift.
