Responsibilities
- Promote safety throughout the facility by encouraging participation in safety meetings, audits, and projects; support the team’s actions and concerns.
- Ensure meetings and tasks are documented and stored in the proper location.
- Maintain overall cleanliness of facilities and grounds, fostering a strong customer service culture.
- Provide weekly updates to owners on location successes, concerns, roadblocks, and areas needing assistance; communicate urgent matters immediately.
- Interact with customers to provide repair estimates and keep customers and insurance companies informed of job status.
- Schedule technicians to satisfy workload demands.
- Coordinate with other organizational functions to ensure proper payments from customers or insurance firms.
- Support employees by ensuring proper time submission for payroll.
- Ensure compliance with state and local guidelines for body shops.
- Manage teams to engage each member, grow their talents, and promote business growth.
- Encourage employee buy-in and provide opportunities for employees to contribute to solutions.
- Stay informed about each department’s needs regarding equipment and manpower, and support processes to address those needs.
- Oversee plant operations and facility issues by working with internal and external resources for maintenance or repairs.
- Support training initiatives and meetings to promote employee awareness of products, safety, benefits, and policies.
- Seek growth opportunities through product and process knowledge, management, technology, and compliance.
- Ensure customers are well-served through organizational resources and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Participate in employee discussions related to performance reviews and disciplinary concerns.
- Maintain a strong understanding of organizational goals related to service, sales, parts, lease, and rental, and support efforts to achieve them.
- Escalate employee relations matters to human resources when necessary.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in a managerial role related to body shop and/or service operations.
- Versatility with other organizational functions.
- Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred) or 10 years of related experience.
- Proven ability to mentor and hold employees accountable.
- History of growing teams through hiring and development.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
