About the Role

Assists members and potential members with their financial needs, including opening new accounts, processing account transactions and loan requests, resolving problems, and providing assistance and information regarding products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Assists members and non-members with general to intermediate financial transactions and loan inquiries, including business accounts and loans, consumer lending, real estate, credit cards, and other specialty accounts.
  • Resolves problems within authority in a timely manner; refers issues beyond authority to a supervisor with recommendations.
  • Underwrites consumer loans, originates and closes real estate loans.
  • Posts transactions and loan requests accurately and maintains records according to credit union policies.
  • Promotes, explains, and cross-sells credit union products and services, including gap and warranty coverage, credit, and life disability.
  • Anticipates member needs and provides appropriate advice.
  • May represent the credit union at business partner visits, enrollments, and civic functions to develop additional business.
  • Conducts audits of system information and member documents in a timely manner.
  • Acts as liaison between members and various departments.
  • Provides notary services to members.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations

  • Open all accounts, certificates, loans, and other credit union products accurately, ensuring all forms and documents are completed and filed/scanned in a timely manner.
  • Actively cross-sell products and services to meet or exceed sales goals and assist in meeting branch goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable credit union policies and procedures.
  • Represent the credit union in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Provide informed, prompt, and accurate service and support to all members and employees.
  • Maintain a satisfactory loan portfolio.

Requirements

  • One to three years of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Extensive personal contact with others, often of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Ability to motivate, influence, and/or train others.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with external entities, including the ability to influence and sell ideas or services.
  • Must maintain life insurance and NMLS registration.
  • Proficient in using electronic systems to obtain and enter information.
  • Strong public contact and communication skills.
  • Good judgment skills to resolve member issues and offer additional services.
  • Current knowledge of all policies and procedures related to branch services and products.
  • Adept in handling new accounts, share certificates, and IRA accounts.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move around the branch and sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Light lifting required.
